I wanted a inexpensive and very easy to install method to alert me if my young daughter somehow managed to get out of the home when I was napping. We have physical safety (with locks) but I just wanted an added layer of protection.
This method met my needs perfectly. I skipped the screws and double sided tape as this program will be replaced by one thing much more sophisticated in a year. I employed hot-melt glue to attach the door sensors. I find hot-melt glue easier to take away than double sided tape.
Thanks to the beep generated by the alarm box, I can very easily test the sensors by opening a door when the program is not armed. So far, it has been 100% trustworthy in my two story, 3200 square foot residence.
I have noticed complaints about unreliable operation from other shoppers. As with any wireless method, your experience might vary. Anyone who lives near a radio or Television transmitter or under power lines may very well acquire the wireless connections unreliable.
The major improvement I will make is to switch over to the embedded magnet sensors that my builder place into the doors and windows. The SC-10W technique would work just fine with that. The main point lacking which will trigger me to switch is the lack of a dialer that can send an alarm by wireless telephone or supervised link.
Most undesirable guys should be intelligent adequate to cut your phone line.
One other wish list item is to use a rechargeable battery in the alarm unit. According to the manual, the alarm unit's battery wants to be replaced even even though the unit is powered externally.
Finally, it would be amazing if Skylink's security and automation systems had been integrated. Envision you could define operating modes for your system.
In "evening at residence mode", motion detectors would control lighting and door sensors are disarmed.
In "sleeping mode", motion detectors would be disabled (not armed, somebody might have to have water or to use the bathroom) and door sensors would be armed.
In "weekend at property mode", each motion detectors and door sensors would be disarmed.
In "out buying or traveling mode", both motion detectors and door sensors would be armed and the dialer would be enabled.
In "party mode", outdoor lights would be turned on at sunset and private regions of the home would be alarmed.

We purchased this system to pair the door sensors, remotes and the siren with an SC-100 method. The instructions to pair these pieces are not supplied in the manual that came out of the box, but it is uncomplicated to download them from Skylink web-site for every person piece. (I first created the siren unpaired from the other four pieces it came with.) Overall the setup was pretty smooth.
The siren beeps when I disarm the main unit, but it does not beep when I arm it. This is about the only complaint I have with it. The siren is pretty loud as soon as the alarm is tripped. You will wish you did not maintain the remotes next to the siren if you trigger it by mistake. :)
