I recently bought this protected so my wife and I could safely keep items away from our precocious youngster. This secure was an amazingly low value of $99. It arrived promptly through 100 % free "Prime" two day shipping and in pristine situation. Soon after about 15 minutes of examination, battery installation and securing the shelf screws which apparently worked their way loose in transit I was ready to secure our belongings. This secure is pretty properly constructed. The secure is produced from 1/8th or.125 inch metal plate and rather sturdy. I comes with 4 generic AA batteries for the electronic keypad. It has two "emergency" keys in the occasion the batteries fail. As indicated in the description this secure is 1.8 cubic feet which roughly translates to about 20 cans of soda.
I have a few minor comments the initial getting the shelf is not welded but rather fastened by the afore mentioned screws and the shelf wobbles ever so slightly. The second was the top quality of the foam pads included and attached to the door to deaden the sound of the door closing. They are virtually worthless and I immediately replaced them with some better, thicker ones from the nearby house garden center. Lastly, I did not care for how loud the key pad beeps when you enter the code. I wish there was some user method of programming the pad to beep in a lower tone or not at all.
I would suggest keeping a flashlight in the safe or maintain the secure in an region that has access to some external light supply given that the safe itself is rather dark and depending on exactly where you hold it you will have a tough time seeing what is in there.
This safe is not fire rated nor is it theft proof and for the majority of users needs it will execute its function of keeping third parties grubby mitts off your property, but if you want or need maximum safety and fire protection look elsewhere.
For a $100 safe with zero cost shipping, this is a wonderful deal. Please know that it provides no fire protection and the metal is not that thick. I use it for handguns to maintain away from youngsters and I am even more than pleased with the value. I also added two stick-on battery powered LED lights (bought on Amazon) that are quite valuable so you can see inside -- it's extremely dark inside. The keypad is a bit flimsy -- that entire piece is all plastic, but once more it's worth $100.
